We met at the Sears Canada Headquarters and started to hand out postcards and fliers to the people walking down the busy downtown Toronto Street. Responses were great, they were all really interested and shocked that Sears would not join the 21st century and use recycled paper for their catalogues. Many people commented on how many catalogues they got and how they didn't need so many.
We sang christmas carols, right outside of the door, and our tree and caribou danced (we had stilters dressed as trees so people in their offices in the building could see them).
A small group of us went inside the building to deliver reindeer shaped cookies and a picture of destroyed caribou habitat to the CEO. He wasn't available but his executive assistant came down and got them from us.
We talked to several employees who were out for their lunch break, and continued to pass out fliers and sing carols.
It was a great event, with lots of good media coverage, that put some pressure on Sears in Canada!
