Bay Area Sears Hears from Protesters
This weekend, a group of environmental activists from the SF Bay Area organized a demonstration at Sears in Oakland, CA. About a dozen protesters gathered in front of the Sears on Broadway, displaying a large banner. Two activists went into the store to speak with a manager about the campaign, and why we and environmentalists across the country were at Sears stores. The manager seemed unaware of the campaign, but took a copy of the ad ForestEthics produced about the campaign, and said he’ll tell the executives that we were protesting. The two activists then rejoined the rest of the group, who were chanting, “1-2-3-4 Get out of the forest floor! 5-6-7-8 Stop before it is too late!” The protest also included cheers from the San Francisco Radical Cheerleading Squad, as well as street theatre.
