Chalking Results in Near Arrest at Boston Sears

Hey Everyone,
Last week our Boston group decided to get together for our debut appearance at the Sears store in town. We met up in the evening, but the person with the flyers was unable to make it at the last second. That's no problem though, when you're prepared with a backup plan! We had sidewalk chalk and put it to good use. There are four entrances to the store and we decorated them all with multi-colored slogans and website info.
Unfortunately, the police came by to rain on our parade. They threatened to send one of us to jail for 'defacing private property,' which is a load of crap. After trying to reason with them for a few minutes, we had to wash off some of the chalk, before heading off to dinner and a debrief.
In one picture, you can see our comrade Eric surrounded by a security guard, a police officer and 2 store managers. In the other, you can see our artwork defaced by the officers' orders to erase it.
All in all, we caused quite a stir at the store and they certainly are aware of us now!

On September 11, representatives of ForestEthics in the Boston area gathered at the Sears store at the Cambridgeside Galleria in Cambridge, MA. The group was filmed fliering and talking to folks about the Do Not Mail campaign.

Footage of the action was used in a news report on junk mail, which aired on October 1 on wbz, a local news station.
